Ensemble: Concert Choir

Concert Choir is a mixed chorus that comprises singers of intermediate level. No audition is required to join, and is especially perfect for newcomers to chorus. 


 Educational Focus:

  • Build strong foundation in musicality and vocal performance
  • Introduce singers to music theory & diverse music genres/origins 

Ensemble: Belle Cantaniti

Cantanti is a treble (higher voices) chorus that comprises singers of intermediate-to-advanced level. An audition is required to join. 


Educational Focuses: 

  • Expand strong foundation in musicality and vocal performances
  • Analyze & interpretation of music in the context of SSA repertoire

Ensembles: Chamber Choir

Chamber choir is a mixed chorus that comprises singers if the most advanced level. An audition is required to join. 


Educational Focuses:

  • Extrapolate foundation in musicality to collegiate-level repertoire
  • Emphasize leadership & highly detailed analysis in music 

Music Theory & Composition

 Introduces the fundamentals of organized sound, emphasizing rules of Western music composition and offering opportunities to create original works. Students will develop the ability to describe, understand, and recognize aspects of tonal music, and skills in sight-singing, dictation/aural, written aspects, composition, and analytical areas. Students will be exposed to a variety of exercises designed to develop these skills including listening, performance, writing, creating, and analyzing music. While the main emphasis is placed on music of the Common Practice Period (1600-1750), music of other stylistic periods may also be studied. Explores use of technology for composition.
